Nothing more was ever heard of Bruno after that. Soldiers went around the whole Out-With to look for Bruno. But only Bruno’s clothes were found on the fence. Mother didn’t return to Berlin quite as quickly as she hoped. She stay at Out-With, she thought he might have made his way home alone. She immediately returned to their old house, half expecting to see him on the doorstep waiting for her. He wasn’t there. Gretel returned to Berlin with Mother and cried a lot because she misses Bruno so much. Father stayed out at Out-With for another year waiting for Bruno. He thinks about Bruno day and night.

One day, Father formed a theory about what might have occurred and he went back to the fence where the pile of clothes had been found a year before. He discovered that the base of the fence here was not properly attached to the ground as it was everywhere else and that, when lifted, it left gap large enough for a small person (such a little boy) to crawl underneath. As he followed through it logically, when he found that his legs seemed to stop working right and he fell right down the floor.

That’s the end of the story of Bruno and his family.

Why this ending is a good or a bad one?

I think this ending was a bad one because the ending was a sad ending. Bruno died in the end, his parents and his sisters were upset about his missing. If I was the author, I would write the ending as Bruno being brought to a faraway country to works. And his father managed to follow his theory and find Bruno in the end. Bruno and his family left happily ever after.

The next day

The next day, it was a raining day. When it’s time to meet Shmuel, the rain stopped so Bruno managed to meet Shmuel. Shmuel prepared a set of striped pyjmas. As Bruno changed into the pyjamas, Bruno left his clothes behind the fence. Shmuel lead him into the fence. There were people sitting in group, staring at the floor looking sad. All them were skinny and were wearing striped pyjamas. Later on, Bruno and Shmuel decided to look Shmuel’s father. They went all around to find evidence like note, etc that were left behind by his father. They took one and a half hour looking for it. However, they didn’t manage to find any evidence. Bruno saw the sky was getting dark and they decided to go home. Suddenly, there was a loud whistle. All the people gathered around. And Bruno found out that they were going to do marches. He wanted to leave but Shmuel held on to him. The whistle blew again and they started to march slowly. As they were marching, Bruno asked Shmuel if the marching is very long because he wanted to go home. Shmuel told him that those that went for marching never come back. And it started to pour heavily again. As they march on, there was no more rain coming down anymore because they were all piling into a long room. Shmuel gathered himself very close to Bruno. And then the room went very dark and somehow, despite the chaos that followed. Bruno found out that he was holding Shmuel’s hand in his own and nothing in the world would have persuaded him to let it go.

Two days before Bruno leaved Out-With, Bruno and Shmuel met together at the same place. Shmuel told him that his father went missing and he couldn’t find him. Bruno told him that he is going to leave soon. Shmuel was shocked and sad at the same time as nobody will talk to him anymore. They decided that Bruno will come over to the other side of the fence the next day to play with Shmuel for the first and last time. And they will look for Shmuel’s father too.

Mother wants to go back with Berlin

After a year, Bruno’s mother insisted that Out-With is not a suitable environment for Bruno and Gretel so they decided to move back to Berlin. However, Bruno didn’t want to go back to Berlin, he didn’t want to leave his best friend, Shmuel.

Exploration

One day, Bruno went for an exploration. He decided to explore the fence he saw from his room despite the fact that his parents tell him not to go near it. As he walked towards the fence, a dot suddenly appeared. It became a speck, then a blob, then a figure. Lastly, became a boy, Shmuel.

Shmuel was much smaller than Bruno and he wore a striped pyjamas and a striped cloth cap on his head too. Bruno sat down and talks to him. They meet every day at the fence and Bruno always brought food for Shmuel. Soon, they became best friends. They talked about their lives before coming to Out-With and etc.

Bruno always wanted to go to the other side of the fence to play games with Shmuel instead of talking to each other only. However, he didn’t.

As days pass by, memories of Berlin fainted and Bruno no longer misses Berlin as he wasn’t alone anymore.

Bruno’s room

From Bruno’s room, it started off nice enough. There was a garden directly beneath Bruno’s window. Past the garden, there was a pleasant pavement with a wooden bench on it. About twenty feet further, he could see a fence from far way; the fence was much higher than the house.

Leaving Berlin, Bruno and his parents and sister, Gretel, had move into a house at Out-With. At first, Bruno hated Out-With because there the house wasn’t as big as the one in Berlin. And most importantly, there were no friends around to talk to him. Bruno missed his friends at Berlin a lot and hoped that they would return to Berlin soon.

At Out-With, there were only soldiers around and people that wear striped pyjamas.
